"Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. . ." (Psalm 84:10)
Time is so precious, so what we do with it is important. There are only so many minutes in a day. It's no wonder so many of us are running around frantic and trying to cram in as much as we can. Believe me, last week alone I worked 61 hours; not fun, but needed.
Despite all the chaos around us, we choose what takes center stage. When we're aware of that, we can make better decisions about what we make a priority. I know with my busy schedule, even in ministry, I often put God in the back seat because of what I deem important rather than following His perfect will. Often times spending quality time with God becomes one of those things we "cram" into our busy day.
I think this is where we miss it. Time with God shouldn't be something to check off our list. Instead, it should be something we value. We should look forward to that time in each day when it is "God & God Alone". This verse reminds me of how important it is to spend time with Him.
When we are in sync with God, everything else seems to flow much better. Our frantic-ness seems a little less hectic. Would your relationship with your spouse or friend be a thriving one if you just tried to check that time with them off your list? God does not want your leftovers. He wants quality time with you. He would rather have your full attention one day a week than be crammed into your busy schedule. I know, because I speak from experience. Let's all of us take a moment to pause and spend time with God without distraction. I promise you will notice a huge difference in the quality of your relationship with Him.
