I’ve always been excited at Christmas. I remember once when I was a young child, my dad had climbed up on the roof on Christmas eve to secretly make it appear as if Santa had arrived. When we were awakened on Christmas morning my dad asked if we had heard noise during the night. He said that it sounded like something had landed on the roof. All six of us ran outside to discover that, sure enough, there were reindeer and sleigh tracks on the roof. Wow we were so excited. I thought I would never finish breakfast so that we could all get to the Christmas Tree.
As years have gone by, that excitement has never worn off. Linda and I have tried to bring family tradition and, since becoming Christians, Christ into our Christmas. Before having Christ in our lives, Christmas was fun and exciting but it was all about the stuff. You know, what we could give and, yes, what we could get!
Christmas is giving! God gave His one and only Son so that you and I could have eternal life. Now that is GIVING! I can’t help but wonder, do you know what you’re going to give this year? Will it be the traditional mountain of presents as you spend more than you should or will it be sharing the gift of Christ? Our prayer is that Jesus will be lifted up and glorified this holiday season and that among the hustle and bustle of the holiday, all of us will share the real reason for this special season.
CHRISTMAS —I just can’t wait!
From all of us between the hills at Gil’s Hills, praying you will have a wonderful and Christ-centered Christmas.
